Fifty-two mango varieties, all grafted. A grafted mango fruits in roughly two to four years instead of the eight or more a seedling takes, and it comes true to variety — a seed from an Alphonso will not give you an Alphonso.

The Indian classics are here: Alphonso, Kesar, Dasheri, Chausa and Himsagar. Alongside them sit rarities most nurseries do not carry — the ruby-skinned Miyazaki, the near-stoneless Seedless Mango, and a run of Thai varieties bred for size and sweetness.

Most will fruit in a large pot on a terrace given six hours of sun. If your mango grows well but never flowers, the cause is almost always too much nitrogen — see feeding and pruning.
